Itinerary and Map

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

Your journey begins upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. Our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. In the evening, you may explore Thamel.

Day 2

Drive or flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara

Travel to Pokhara either by scenic drive or short domestic flight. The drive offers views of rivers, hills, and rural settlements, while the flight provides stunning Himalayan panoramas. Upon arrival, enjoy a peaceful evening by Phewa Lake.

Day 3

Drive to Ghandruk and trek to Tadapani

Drive to Ghandruk, a beautiful Gurung village, and begin trekking through stone steps and forest trails to Tadapani. The route offers early views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre.

Day 4

Trek Tadapani to Dobato

Today’s trail passes through dense rhododendron and oak forests. The peaceful route gradually ascends to Dobato, a small settlement known for its viewpoint.

Day 5

Trek Dobato to Upper Chistibung

Start early with an optional sunrise hike to Mulde Viewpoint for panoramic mountain views. Continue trekking through forested paths, descending and then ascending to Upper Chistibung.

Day 6

Trek to Khopra Danda

Climb above the tree line into alpine terrain. As you approach Khopra Ridge, the landscape opens dramatically, revealing close-up views of Dhaulagiri and surrounding peaks.

Day 7

Hike to Khayer Lake and return

A challenging but rewarding day hike to Khayer Lake, a sacred alpine lake. The trail involves steep ascents but offers unmatched Himalayan scenery and spiritual significance.

Day 8

Trek to Swanta Village

Descend through alpine pastures and forest trails to Swanta Village, a traditional Magar settlement known for its warm hospitality.

Day 9

Trek to Tatopani

Continue descending through terraced farmlands and villages to reach Tatopani. Relax in the natural hot springs, a perfect way to soothe tired muscles.

Day 10

Drive from Tatopani to Pokhara

After breakfast, take a scenic drive back to Pokhara along rivers and mountain roads. Enjoy a relaxing evening in the city.

Day 11

Return to Kathmandu

Travel back to Kathmandu by flight or drive. Spend your final evening shopping or enjoying a farewell dinner.

Final Departure

Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.

Trek Difficulty

The Khopra Danda Trek is considered a moderate trek, suitable for individuals with a reasonable level of fitness. Daily walking hours typically range from 4 to 7 hours, with gradual altitude gain. While no technical climbing is required, the hike to Khayer Lake is physically demanding due to its elevation and duration.

Accommodation

Accommodation during the trek is provided in teahouses and community lodges, which are simple yet comfortable. Rooms are usually twin-sharing with basic facilities, and meals are served in communal dining areas. In Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will stay in standard tourist hotels.

Meals and Drinking Water

During the trek, a variety of meals including Nepali, Asian, and continental dishes are available. Dal Bhat (rice, lentils, and vegetables) is the most common and nutritious option. Drinking water can be purchased along the route or treated using purification tablets or filters.

Permits

Trekkers require two main permits for this trek: the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card. These permits are arranged prior to the trek and must be carried at all times.

Transportation

The journey typically begins with a drive or short flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. From Pokhara, a road transfer takes you to the trek starting point. After completing the trek, you return to Pokhara by road and then travel back to Kathmandu.
