Visa Extension

If you plan to stay in Nepal longer than the period covered by your tourist visa, you may apply for a visa extension through the Department of Immigration in Nepal. Tourist visas can generally be extended up to a maximum total stay of 150 days in a visa year, subject to current immigration regulations.

Who Does Not Need a Tourist Visa?

Indian citizens do not require a visa to enter Nepal. Certain other nationalities may qualify for visa-free or gratis visa arrangements under Nepal's current immigration rules.

Travellers from some countries may be required to obtain a visa in advance and may not be eligible for a Visa on Arrival. Always check the latest requirements based on your nationality before travelling.

Important Information for Trekkers and Climbers

A Nepal tourist visa allows you to enter and travel within Nepal, but it does not automatically include trekking permits, conservation area permits, national park entry fees, or climbing permits. These are separate requirements and may be necessary depending on your trekking or expedition itinerary.

At GMT Adventures, we help our clients prepare for their Himalayan journey and can provide guidance on the necessary permits and documentation for their chosen trek or expedition.
